The long day of the Seminar on Cranio-Cerebral Trauma was nearing its end. Audience in the large auditorium of Trivandrum Medical College was restless and getting ready to go. The last speaker of the day was in front of the mike. “As we come to the tail end of this session, we come to the tail end of the spinal cord”, he thundered. The effect was electric. Everyone sat up and took note. That was Prof. Achyutha Menon, my teacher and mentor.
